Modern Art and Film.

Emile De Antonio is regarded as one of the most important political filmmakers of the American Left. His films include "Point of Order," about the McCarthy hearings; "Rush to Judgement," about the Warren Report; "In the Year of the Pig," about the history of Vietnam, and "Underground," where he interviewed members of the Weather Underground. One of De Antonio's biggest influences is John Cage. De Antonio is in town for an appearance at the I-House which will screen three of his films: "Millhouse," a political comedy; "In the King of Prussia," about a group of anti-nuclear activists, and "Painters Painting," about the art world in New York after World War II. A new book, "Painter Painting: A Candid History of the Modern Art Scene, 1940-1970," is based on interviews conducted for the film. (INTERVIEW BY DANNY MILLER)

In a new article titled The Tick That Hunts Down its Hosts, Including Us, he reports on what we know about how the tick operates, how it has multiplied and vastly extended its territory and how it affects the people it feeds on, and the latest ideas about how to limit the infestation and treat people with alpha gal syndrome which the tick causes. BILGER is also the author of the 2023 book Fatherland, about his German grandfather, who joined the Nazi Party, but worked with the French resistance.
