Fresh Air with Terry Gross

We remember writer, activist and feminist crusader GLORIA STEINEM. She died Wednesday at the age of 92. We'll listen to excerpts of two interviews with her. Her memoir, My Life on the Road, was dedicated to the doctor who helped Steinem get an illegal abortion when she was 22. She talks about the choices she made in her life--a life that has profoundly influenced women around the world. She helped to launch Ms. Magazine: created, owned, and operated by women, and targeted at increasingly self-aware women of the 1970s. It proved widely popular and hugely influential.

In her new book Steinem also reflects on turning 60.
