Documentary filmmaker Ross McElwee and editor Marilyn Levine. He made the film, "Sherman's March," in which he set out to trace William Tecumseh Sherman's march to the sea -- but it really traces his entanglements with Southern women along the way. During the editing of that film, he and Levine fell in love. McElwee's new film, "Something to Do With The Wall," began as a story about the eternal presence of the Berlin Wall, but ended up a story of the wall's breaking down.

In 1960, Curtis starred in the film, "Spartacus," about a leader of slaves revolting against Republican Rome. A restored version of the film is being released that includes previously cut scenes, including a homoerotic exchange between Curtis and co-star Laurence Olivier.

British actress Joan Plowright. She's one of her nation's leading actresses, having appeared on the London stage since the mid 50s. She's also been on Broadway, had numerous role on British television, and appeared in the films "The Dressmaker," "I Love You To Death," and "Avalon." She was also married to the late actor Sir Lawrence Oliver.

The Polish documentarian chronicled the fall of Communism and rise of democracy in Poland, an activity that caused him repeated trouble with the Polish authorities.

The director's new movie is a trio of vignettes, each of which explore some aspect of sexuality. It won the top prize at Sundance, but has been called pornographic by many conservative groups.

Park's short, claymation film, "Creature Comforts," won this year's Oscar for Best Animation. It's a five-minute parody of a documentary in which various zoo animals tell the camera how they feel about their living conditions.

The biologist, special effects expert, and bug wrangler was responsible for the moths in the movie, "Silence of the Lambs" and the cockroaches in "Creepshow."

Peebles is the son of the legendary director Melvin Van Peebles. His film New Jack City is set in Harlem, and features a grim, gritty, and violent world of crack dealers and users.
