Luis Alberto Urrea pays tribute to WWII's forgotten volunteers — including his mother

Urrea is celebrated for his books about the U.S.-Mexico border, particularly his nonfiction work, The Devil's Highway, which was a 2005 Pulitzer Prize finalist.
